Little is known of the artist other than he resided in Letchworth, England and was employed by K&L Steelfounders and Engineers there. The North Hertfordshire Museum have four works by the artist, one of which depicts Namur, Belgium. This, accompanied by the fact that K&L was established by refugees from Antwerp (circa 1915) point to Gansen himself likely being of Belgian origin and perhaps even being one of the original group who sought safety and employment in Letchworth then.

 

Housed in its original oak frame.
