A large original point paper design produced by Ewart Lidell – formerly William Lidell & Co. – Donaghcloney, County Down. The design is for the ‘The Grand Calcutta Hotel Ltd’ and would have been used to produce a sample on linen for the prospective client.
 
These hand painted works are seldom to be found outside museum collections. This example has been recently framed by the previous owner transforming it into a unique piece of decorative art.
 
Also included is an otherwise undocumented original photograph, housed in its original frame, showing artists producing such designs in Donaghcloney Mill – specifically noting a Freddy McComiskey to the reverse.
